Cittadellarte Fondazione Pistoletto
Cittadellarte is a non-profit organization, acknowledged by Regione Piemonte in 1998. Headquarters are in Biella, in a former wool-manufacturing factory on the Cervo torrent, inside an industrial archaeological complex that is protected by the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports.
It represents a new model of art institution, whose objective is to produce civilization through art and creativity (its name, “Cittadellarte” refers to the concept of “civitas”), and to achieve this it hosts exhibits, it proposes educational projects and artistic activities pertaining to the different ambits of society.
The organizational structure of the Foundation is split in operative sectors, linked one to the other, called Uffizi; each is dedicated to the interaction of art with a specific area of the social fibre, from production to economy, from communication to politics, from education to architecture, from spirituality to labour, from environment to nutrition.
Art is the common denominator of all of Cittadellarte’s Uffizi, following the motto: Art is at the Centre of a Responsible Social Transformation.
Ufficio Arte specifically organizes projects, works, installations, short festivals for visual arts, movies and performances, meetings, concerts and festivals, and takes part in national and international events.
