Hosted in a structure that is suspended on the roof of Turin’s Lingotto – headquarters for Fiat’s first factory – the art collection that used to belong to Giovanni Agnelli and his wife Marella, is permanently open to the public. The “treasure chest” – as defined by Renzo Piano who designed it – features 25 masterpieces that range from the seventeen hundreds to the mid nineteen hundreds, among which: seven Matisse canvases, a painting by Balla dated 1913, works by Severini, Modigliani, Tiepolo, Picasso (a work from the blue period and one from the cubist period), Renoir, Manet, two chalk statues by Canova and precious testimonies of Venetian art from Canaletto to Bellotto.

Underneath the treasure chest, the art gallery takes up another five floors where it hosts temporary exhibits, an educational centre for arts, offices, a bookshop and a reading room dedicated to collecting.
